LFS Takes Second Place in the Catholic School Relay Races at St. Mary's Ryken

On a cold and soggy Saturday afternoon, our student athletes were not to be deterred! They came out with energy and drive, and we were able to take home second place in overall scoring! Thank you to Mrs. Traci Guice, our physical education teacher, who worked tirelessly to coordinate and direct practices. Your hard work has paid off, Mrs. Guice! Also, a special thanks to each and every parent who assisted at the practices and at the actual event on Saturday. The LFS community has come together, once again, for a common goal, and we have succeeded! Congratulations, Mrs. Guice and our student athletes!

LFS Varsity Girls End Season with Overtime Loss to St. John's in Playoff Semifinals

Our varsity girls basketball team showed admirable effort this past weekend in the semifinals of the SYBL playoffs. After outscoring St. John's in the first half 18-8, the girls were in for a much tougher battle in the second half. St. John's pushed the game into overtime after a layup with 20 seconds to go in regulation and ended up winning, 36-29. St. John's moved on to the finals, while Little Flower's season came to an end. This team will go down in history as one of the best girls teams to ever suit up for Little Flower. Their overall record was 15-2. Their regular season record was an astonishing 10-0, beating every team in the league. They won the tip-off tournament last November, and had winning streaks of 8 and 7 games, respectively. Regardless of the outcome of the playoffs, this team has a lot to be proud of.
We thank the girls and their coaches for representing LFS so well throughout the year. We are proud of each and every one of you! A special thanks goes to our graduating players - Hannah Lawrence, Jessica Gardiner, and Kylie Blevins - we will truly miss you! Please come out and support our players at the SYBL Showcase games on Friday, March 11th, at St. Mary's College. Our girls coaches - as winners of the South Division title - will also be coaching the South in the girls all-star game. Our cheerleaders will also be performing several routines! See you there!

The team will now play St. John's School this Sunday at noon at Ryken for a spot in Tuesday night's league championship game! We want to pack the gym with Patriot fans - we look forward to seeing you all there!

SYBL at the Comcast Center

tip offOur annual Sunday Youth Basketball League's day at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center was this past Sunday, and what a day it was! Our girls competed on the Black team and lost a close game versus Red, 37-32. We had 6 girls represented on the Black team, and they all played with heart and passion! Our boys played in a losing effort versus Red, as well. Our cheerleaders did an excellent job cheering throughout the day - even during timeouts and at halftime of the Maryland women's game versus Virginia! The SYBL had almost 650 people there representing our league - what a great day to be an LFS Patriot!

Maryland Women's Head Basketball Coach Brenda Frese throws up the tip with LFS 8th grader Hannah Lawrence ready to pull it down!
