August 25, 2010
Dear Parents and Friends of Little Flower School,
Father Calis and I welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year at Little Flower School. We are looking forward to a great year filled with learning and fun. I am happy to see returning students and families and overjoyed that many new students and families have joined us this year. We will celebrate the opening of the new year with an All-School Mass at Holy Face Church on August 31st at 10:15 a.m. Parents, I encourage you to attend Mass with the students.
Over the summer, we began upgrading our computer server and classroom computers. I wish to thank J.F. Taylor, Inc., for donating the funding to begin this process. They have been very generous to Little Flower School over the years. We have had many parents volunteer this summer with painting, building, weeding the grounds, logging books in the library and other general upgrades. Thank you, Mr. Guy Bradley, for coordinating the recent parents’ work weekend. This coming Saturday, under the supervision of Mrs. Kelly Schroeder, a group of St. Mary’s College students will be here to complete additional projects around the school. If any parents would like to join them (there’s always work to be done J)! This is your last chance to earn double volunteer hours. I am grateful to everyone who has donated paint supplies, building materials, time and talent.
Open Houses are going well, and I am looking forward to visiting with our middle school families tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
We will begin our first fundraising event with the Innisbrook Kick-Off on Sept. 1st. Families will receive Innisbrook fundraising information in next week’s folder.
You will receive, or have received, your 2010-2011 Family Calendar. Please keep that calendar handy to reference activities throughout the year. We will notify you in the Wednesday letter only of changes or additions to the Family Calendar.
For safety reasons, please do not allow students to exit your cars in the morning any further back than the mailbox. Follow the direction of the monitors who are on duty in the mornings and afternoons. Parents and students should avoid crossing the parking lot on foot while cars and buses are being unloaded. If necessary, please park your car and wait in the lot until all cars and buses have unloaded. Finally, only right hand turns are permitted as you exit our lot at the stop sign. This is for your safety and the safety of other commuters. U-turns can be made from the bell tower lot just beyond Holy Face Church.
If I can be of assistance throughout the year, please do not hesitate to call or email.
